Mr. Debose….RIP!!!

Last nite I received a voicemail message on my cell phone that one of my closest friends in pharmacy school dad had passed away.  It was really a shock to my system.  Mind you, I have not talked to this friend since I graduated 15 years ago, but her family was my adopted family when I moved from TN to TX without knowing anyone in the whole city of Houston.  My friend lived in a house with her parents and her granny who was blind but very efficient around the house.

I would have dinner with them and just sometimes go by to hang out.  Mr. Debose even drove across town to pick me up from a gas station during a Houston flood to take me to my apartment, which was only 5 blocks away.

His passing is also a reminder that one day our parents will no longer be with us.  And how time is so short. It seems like only yesterday I was riding in my friends light blue centra to her parents house in Houston.  We would have to pull over to the side of the road every now and then to add water and oil under the hood in order for us to keep rollin’ (I didn’t have a car either).  But that didn’t matter, as long as the Mary J. Blige was still banging from the AM/FM radio, we were fine.

Mr. Debose, thank you for all you did for a small town Tennessee girl!
