National Day of Prayer

Tomorrow is the official National Day of Prayer.  I suppose this is where America takes time to meditate and/or pray together for issues surrounding our nation.  Even though America is made up of many different races and nationalities, we still hold one thing the same and that is our humanity.  Everyone wants a safe place to live, security in their job, good education for their children, food on the table, and the ability to have the freedom to do as they please within the boundaries of the law.

No matter what religion or denomination we are, we still ultimately want the same things out of life and it would be great if we could all pray (not just on one day) that we get the peace and security that we want.  But first that starts with a true and full evaluation of yourself. What are you doing to make your environment peaceful and safe.  It is not only the responsibility of the government to do this, but we need to go back to implementing neighborhood watches, looking out for our neighbors, teaching our kids to respect themselves and their community.

There is lots for us to pray about on a daily basis BUT on this one official day of prayer, maybe we should not focus on praying for things for ourselves, but pray for others.  And remember, prayer is not just a fleeting whisper we say at night or morning, it should be backed up by action….to assure that our prayers become reality by practicing the Word and being dedicated to service.

On tomorrow, don’t forget to pray for me…I will be praying for you.
