Father’s Day!

On Sunday we will be celebrating Father’s Day.  My father is still alive although he has Alzheimer’s disease but what a blessing it is for him to be here.  Even though I am 40 years old, when I get around my daddy, it is like I am 14 years old.  Not in mentality, but in the security and love that I still feel when my daddy is in the room.

He took care of his family to the best of his ability and sent all of his children to college and graduate school.  He was a loving husband and gave his wife anything she wanted.

Most of all, my daddy let me know that I was wanted around all of the time. No matter what he had to do, he would take me along with him.  I knew all of his friends, all of his hangouts, what he liked to eat and drink, probably just as well as his wife.

He would dance with me around the kitchen island doing a dance we made up called “The Daddy”. He would sing Nat King Cole songs during Christmas time and barbeque for the family almost every weekend during the summer. No one can still beat him “queing”!

What Daddy’s do best is make their kids feel wanted, loved and secure.  We long for acceptance from our Daddy’s that is so different from the acceptance that we get from our mothers.  Even if Daddy makes a mistake, it is null and void in the eyes of kids.  Daddy’s get a second, third, and fourth chance because Daddy’s are the BEST!

I love you Daddy and Happy Father’s Day!!!!!
