Repetition Pays Off!

I am learning that even though your child may be completely silent when you are reading books to him/her, they are processing everything you say.

Thomas and I were in his room cleaning up when he decides that he wants to read books. As I continued cleaning, he picks up a book written in spanish and begins to count the number of lady bugs on the cover in perfect spanish….and in perfect order.  I could not believe my ears.

I had been reading him this 6 page book, in spanish (which is very broken), almost every night with him seeming not to be really interested, only to find out that he HAD been processing it all.

I really can “see” the importance of reading to your child every night. Even when you are dead tired, try to at least get through 1 or 2 books. This is the best time of the day for me because I get to snuggle up with my baby boy (better do it while I can) and it is a great time of the day for him because he is learning and enjoying story time.
