Poll: To All My First Ladies

I know you saw this “news” lately about the First Lady’s shorts.  What do you think?  AND Should it even matter?

The first lady wears — gasp! — shorts. So what’s your opinion?

PX00168_9[1] Talk about much ado about very little.

First we had Arms-gate, when first lady Michelle Obama dared to — gasp! — bare her arms in sleeveless dresses.

Now we have Shorts-gate, when the first lady dares to — gasp! — bare her legs by wearing shorts on a family vacation visit to the Grand Canyon in punishing midsummer heat.

Two questions:

1. What’s your take on her outfit? (Right, with daughter Malia, and below, with Sasha.)

2. What would you wear on a family vacation visit to the Grand Canyon in 106-degree heat?

I eagerly await your take on Shorts-gate, so hit the “comment” button and have at it.

My opinion? Keep reading — but only after you’ve posted yours. I wouldn’t want to influence your opinions!

For her arrival back at the White House, Mrs.O changed into one of her signature white sheath dresses. And btw — would you say the first kids are eager to be home? Perhaps they’re rushing to greed first dog Bo…

My opinion of the first shorts? Considering the time (family vacation), the place (Grand Canyon) and temperature (106 degrees), shorts are a sensible choice. That’s what I’d wear.

In fact, the whole outfit makes sense. The white tank top, light checked blouse and white cap to deflect the heat; sunglasses to cut the glare; sneakers for walking on the rough, hot ground.

If the first lady had deplaned in D.C. wearing that shorts outfit, I’d certainly raise an eyebrow. Instead, she chose a cool white dress. Entirely appropriate — even though it’s — gasp! — sleeveless.

My only criticism of the Grand Canyon outfit: Those really are rather frumpy “mommy shorts” — longish, baggyish, and not at all stylish. The Bermuda shorts the first lady sometimes wears pack a lot more fashion punch.

First Ladies are always under the spotlight for fashion faux paus BUT this first lady is revealing that she is a normal american woman by her choice of clothing. Jeans would have been unbearable in that heat and totally ridiculous.

Are you kidding? This made the news? What a joke. Shorts are certainly sensible for this vacation trip. Anyone who disagrees is a daduntadunt!…..EXactly

Why can’t they just leave the woman alone? I think the problem is a lot of us think that just because she is the President’s wife that she has to dress up for us and NOT for herself. I admire her for being herself. I believe she represents the “real” woman in all of us. Just that, a mom and a woman who is so down to earth! I rest my case 🙂
