The Baby Einstein Refund

Why are people shocked that the Baby Einstein DVD series did not turn their children into geniuses?  Oh, I forgot..we live in a society where we want EVERYONE ELSE to mold our kids into what we “think” is a genius. We want it to happen without any input from the parents AND we want it FAST. So we will pay for it.

We cannot sit our children in front of the DVD player, television, or radio and expect, that by osmosis, our children (and babies) will become geniuses.

I do not blame The Baby Einstein company for promoting their products as supplements and enhancements to education because that’s exactly what they are.  Education is gained by “doing” and working hard, not by mindlessly sitting in front of a television.

It is of note to read the statement made by Baby Einstein regarding their voluntary refund of products because there are two sides to every story.

Until parents stop living on autopilot and start living consciously, only then can they make better decisions about how to best educate thier kids.

Do I think Baby Einstein should offer a refund for parents buying a frog that they thought would turn into a prince? NO.  But I do think that it is great business ethics that they continue to want their customers to be satisfied with the products they purchase. And for the most part, they are.

I have not purchased any of the Baby Einstein products for my son but I am a huge fan of the LeapFrog product,s but I do not expect the frog to teach my child algebra.  One thing that is missing from our kids is the ability to think critically. Technology can lead children there but cannot make them drink.

Be a smart cosumer, so that your children will be smart too.
