Haiti Is Not A World Away! “We” Are Haiti!!

When I first heard about the earthquake that hit Haiti, I thought how sad and then moved on. Then as more news and reports started to surface, I saw what a devastating effect the earthquake had on Haiti. Knowing that 2 million people lived in the city of Port-Au-Prince, in cinder block buildings stacked on top of each other, only lead to the inevitable deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

This natural disaster did not happen just to “them” BUT to “us”…the human race. Media and government immediately started reporting who and how many Americans were in Haiti at the time, as if to say, that “we” are only concerned about our own.

When one (person, family, country, etc) is down, this the time for ALL to roll up their sleeves and HELP. Some say “what can I do?” So much! Just listen and read. The devastation for Haiti is going to last long past yesterday and today. Your fellow human beings will need your assistance to survive and rebuild for many years to come.

Donate what you can. Pray if you get inclined. And spread the word that your neighbor is in NEED!!  In the broader scope of things, we use social media networking to bring attention to “us” and our blogs, for doing giveaways and recommending books. For those of you who truly have a large following and want to make a difference…blog about GIVING!!! Start with Yele.org or the American Red Cross.

You never know when your day may come!!!

Thank you for reminding us that we have the power to help another just by what we say to influence others. If you have a voice of influence, NOW is the time to use it for good. Give to Haiti and let’s help our brothers and sisters HEAL!
