The Appreciation Day for a Pastor and his family is really a breath of fresh air for me. Those of us who are pastor’s wives, working (outside of the home) moms, and community servants know that this is NOT an easy position.
That is why I am so thankful for the one day where the church congregation shows appreciation and acknowledgement to the whole family for their sacrifice and dedication.
At the end of our appreciation celebration, I made comments to remind everyone that the Pastor, First Lady and the family are a team. And that even though you may not see the Pastor’s wife behind the pulpit every Sunday or teaching Bible Study on Wednesday nights…please remember the support and contribution she and the family gives to the Pastor ”behind closed doors” when there are late night visits to the hospital, day and night time meetings, and a number of other responsibilities that take your husband away from home.
Whether you are the First Lady of a church or the First Lady of your home, appreciation always feels good and is ACKNOWLEGEMENT of the hard and dedicated work you put into your family.
Remember to show appreciation to those in your life and community. Appreciation goes a LONG way!
