The God-Parent Relationship!

This past weekend, my son and I took the 2 hour drive to visit his Godparents in Georgia. I have posted many times about the importance of building the Godparent/Godchild relationship and what a peaceful feeling it is to have a couple love your child as much as you.

Anytime we visit Thomas’ Godparents, my “off-duty”sign comes on and they are in complete control. That means in control of playing, feeding, bathing, maintaining the morals/values that have been instilled and discipline. I pretty much catch up on sleep and reading while lounging on the couch. Of course, I give my two cents on how to handle certain situations for consistency purposes.

Choosing Godparents is not a decision you want to take lightly. These will be the people who care for your child if some unforeseen accident happens to you and your husband.

I capitalize the “G” in Godparent because we put God first in our lives and want God to be the center of our child’s lives. When choosing Godparents, it is of the utmost importance to knowthat God is the center of their lives also.

We are lucky and blessed to have a couple who was willing to accept the duty of Godparents!
