Finding The “Right” Babysitter!

Now would you entrust that face to just anyone? Thomas is 4 y/o now and we (I) are just getting comfortable with letting someone “outside” of the family babysit our son. Due to the fact that work schedules do not always allow us to be at home at the most desirable times, there are instances when we have to seek and choose the “right person to care for our children.

Some of the qualifications that we looked for in a babysitter were:

1. Character

2. Safety

3. Active

4. Respectful

5. Honest

The person that we finally chose was a woman who had a sincere desire to care for children. She is of Christian character and we know of her history and her family’s background. She is an energetic and active person herself. She does not let our son sit in front of the television all day or play video games. She encourages him to walk outside, read books, and learn as much as possible. She teaches him to respect her and his elders. And she is respectful of our instructions as parents. She is honest in giving us advice on something that she observes and genuinely cares about our son’s development.

You can’t imagine how at peace I am in my spirit knowing that when I am at work, my child is being taken care of just as well as if I were there myself. Never be to hasty in picking a childcare provider or babysitter. The “right” one for”‘your” child is out there and it may take a few months (or years, in our case) to find them. Don’t give up!

I came upon your blog through womenlivingwell. I am also a pharmacist and have a son. Being a pharmacist is such a nice and flexible career to have with a family! Blessings!

Thanks for commenting Catie! We do have a lot in common. I LOVE DR. PEPPER TOO! And I lived in TX for ten years (that is where I met my husband). I have saved your blog in my favorites and will be supporting you with the Fall Challenge as well.
