Meditation Monday! Tears Are Sometimes Not What They Seem!

When you look at the picture of this woman crying, what do you think? There is much sadness in her life or something terrible must have happen. Or do you see someone weeping from joy due to the awesomeness of God’s grace and mercy.

I witnessed that this past week when someone I know was overcome with joy from God’s “always on time” blessings and she let the tears flow and flow and flow. This took place in church and immediately everyone was concerned that something was wrong.

Do you ever find yourself tearing up when you are telling a story about the goodness of your life and knowing that it is only through God’s grace that you are living such a fantastic life? I do this all the time.

The next time you see someone crying, you may want to ask “Are those tears of sadness or tears of joy”?

Psalm 126:5-6

New International Version (NIV)

5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.

Only God’s grace has got me this far.

Often when talking about blessings, big and small, and realizing just how good God has been… tears just spring up. I love those kind of tears!

When life is so good, you can’t help but weep at the goodness of God!
