Meditation Monday! Building Christian Character in Children!

This is the beginning of a new month and during the month of April, I will be dedicating my Meditation Monday’s to ways to build Christian character in our children.

The first thing that must be done is to introduce your child to God, His Word, and His love. My son is 4 years old and attends church on a regular basis, but how can you instill God’s Word into a preschooler where they understand and will begin to learn?

Last week I posted a video of bible stories that my son learned at school. We have been blessed to have found a school that supports and encourages the learning of God’s Word.

I believe that it is just as important to do the same at home. Children must see their parents and family following God’s Word in their everyday living. We cannot just preach it, we must live it as well.

This past week, I bought my son a children’s devotional book called “The Beginner’s Bible Kid-Sized Devotionals”. This is an easy read. Each day’s devotional is short and tells the stories from Genesis through Revelation. It has great illustrations and it can also be used to aide in beginner’s reading.

We read a devotion every night along with his library book from school each night. Just like we read other things for fun, we must incorporate God’s Word as part of our everyday living too.
