Meditation Monday! Building Christian Character In Your Children!

I have written before about the importance of Godparents in a child’s life. When we speak about building good christian character, there is no better way to do this than by example. When choosing Godparents for your child, these should be some of the criteria:

1. Both of the candidates love the Lord

2. Believe in the same principles that you believe

3. Encourage the spiritual growth of your child on a consistent basis

4. Readily accessible to your child if there is a problem

5. Able to nurture your child just as if they were the actual parents

I feel that it is important to make sure that your child is around their Godparents as much as possible. You want that relationship to be solid, built on trust, and is lead by the will of God.

If you have not chosen Godparents for your child, it is never to late. Pray that the Lord will guide you in selecting the best couple to hold this duty and also pray that the couple chosen will accept and take the role seriously.

In case of an unforeseen accident, you will not only be handing over your child’s physical body to Godparents but their spiritual growth as well.

Choose wisely!
