May Local Feature Of The Month! Chattanooga Playgrounds!

The flowers are blooming and the weather is getting warmer. It is time to get outside and PLAY! Here you will find local playgrounds all around Chattanooga to take your kids and explore.

Heritage Park–East Brainerd

This park is in a good location if you are just leaving the mall and are looking for a place to take the kids. The day we went it was not that crowded (after 3pm) and there were plenty of swings for the kids. There are two infant swings and four bigger swings.  There is also a dog park on the property that is pretty cool too. The park seems to be run by a full staff so if you have any questions, there should be someone there to assist you.

Riverview Park–Hixson (Parent’s Choice)

This park seemed very family friendly. There were families there having picnics while we were there. There are separate playgrounds for smaller kids vs. bigger kids. I loved that. There is a tennis court and amphitheatre there if your kids would like to perform on stage. There were bathroom facilities but they were just so-so.

Shaw Playground–Highland Park

This playground is a hidden treasure in a quaint neighborhood in Highland Park. We just kinda ran across this park while on our way to another one. It is extremely small which means it is not overrun with kids. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping by. There are no bathroom facilities.

Pioneer Frontier Playground—East Ridge (Kids Pick!)

This is a nice sized playground that can hold plenty of children. It has a sandbox (which needs to be replenished) and activities for children in wheelchairs. There are also pavillions with grills if you want to cook your lunch there and it is also surrounded a nice walking track. The track is just small enough that you can still keep an eye on your child. The bathroom facilities are always locked…BOO!!

Tacoa Park….Brainerd

This is an older park in Brainerd that also has a pavilion for picnics and a very large walking track around the park. If you are looking for a place to fly a kite or to do a lot of wide open running, this is the place for you. Even though it is an older park, it is still a great place to play (if you look at the smile on my son’s face).
