Everyone will go through difficulties in life. We all know that storms will come. It is inevitable.
So, since we know this, we should also already have a plan on how to handle certain situations. Yes, circumstances can knock us off balance temporarily, but with continued studying of God’s Word and surrounding ourselves with people who have already been through what we are going through, can ease our situations exponentially.
What I mean by this is…just because life seems to be falling apart, does not mean that we have to fall apart. This is the time to pull from what we learned and know to be true from the Word of God and stand on his promises. This is what we call FAITH!
I always say that it is best to have your mind made up on how you will handle certain situations even before they happen. For example, if you know that there is tension between you and some family members and a family gathering is coming up, already have your mind made up that if any negative remarks are made that you are going to immediately think of a passage of scripture, a happy time in your life, or say a quick quiet prayer to calm your spirit.
This way you are controlling your emotions and are not letting your emotions control you.
We know that our head tells us one thing and that our feelings sometimes tells us a different thing. We have to get out of the habit of responding to our lives based on immediate and temporary feelings. We can change how we feel in the wink of an eye. So, don’t put all of your eggs in one basked based on feelings.
Let what you know to be true always lead you in the right direction. And the best way to find direction is to stay in the Word and stay connected to like minded and wise individuals.
I pray that you are able to have a made up mind before you enter a storm.
