Now that it is summer time, our family enjoys eating fresh fruits for dessert after dinner, as well as,  for snacks. One of my favorite things to do is go to the local farmer’s market and get fresh strawberries in order to make strawberry short cakes at home. There is nothing like the smell of fresh fruit in the air and in our home. It just really gets the whole family into the summer fun spirit.

Since school is out, my son has plenty of time to help in the kitchen and with preparing meals. Of course, he loves to eat any kind of desserts and since I was chosen as one of the moms to write about everyday treats for the family and COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, he was glad to help me make something easy and yummy.

Here is a slide show of my son making his own strawberry short cake using individual cakes, fresh strawberries, and COOL WHIP.

As you can see, this is a quick and easy dessert that kids can make by themselves. If you already have your strawberries washed and cut up in a container in the fridge, all they have to do is grab a plate or bowl, place in the cake, take out the COOL WHIP and strawberries and start layering. Our family is just partial to strawberries, but you can also try raspberries or blueberries if that is your thing.

The second dessert that I like to make using fresh fruits such as watermelon, cantelope, and honey dew melon is a fresh fruit cup infused with COOL WHIP throughout.

Another easy dessert where you just keep handy a container of fresh fruits in the fridge which is ready to go whenever you need a quick snack or a breakfast on the go. It seems like we are always running out of the door to some activity during the summer, so having these kinds of snacks ready and available saves a lot of time.

I hope you find these easy summer desserts useful for your family and be sure to “tweek” it to fit your family’s appetite.
