Are you familiar with Language Immersion Programs? It is a method for teaching a second language in which the learner’s second language is the medium of classroom instruction (via Wikipedia).
In my own terms, it is an awesome program if anyone (children or adults) wants to be involved in diversity in their city. Not only are you learning a new language but you are also learning huge amounts about the culture. Because I lived in Houston, Texas for over 10 years, diversity is one thing I miss and long for in my small town of Chattanooga (for myself and my son). That is the one thing that I complain about when people ask what it is like to live in Chattanooga. But, if diversity is what you are looking for, it can always be found you just have to get outside of you home and be involved in it.
Here is a video of what the Chattanooga Language School has to offer:
If you have a child that is not yet school age, there are all types of language classes during the day that they can be involved in. There are also adult classes in the evenings and even weekly mingles if you just want to try out your conversational language skills with others. I simply adore this and I hope you do too.
