So, you remember I posted here about my MD diagnosing me with high blood pressure? Well, that got my attention real fast and I decided to drastically change my lifestyle.
I have begun to take FULL advantage of that gym membership that I paid for and having done much with. Now I am at the gym at least two days per week for an hour and walking outside 30 mins a week (while my son is in acting classes).
Was it easy to get back on the exercise wagon? NO.
The first week, I could barely do 10-15 minutes on the treadmill. They gym has a walking track as well, but I know if I am not on something that keeps me continually moving, I will stop. So treadmill it is.
The second week, I was able to walk for 3o minutes while sweating profusely. But I made it.
The third week, more of the same. At a month in (and with the tunes on my MP3 player), I was able to do 60 minutes on the treadmill. I don’t do an hour regularly because now I have added weights to my regime.
I am at the point where I can do 30-45 minutes on the treadmill without shortness of breath and then do at least 15 minutes of leg and upper body work with the weight machines. I love this.
Days when I am not able to make it to the gym, my body knows it. I am actually eager to hit the gym and do what I do.
I have also cut out sodas about 80% from my diet and taken the salt shaker off the table. I added more fruits and veggies to my plate and try to limit my sugar.
Has it helped? Well, my blood pressure has remained the same thus far but BOY DO I FEEL BETTER!!!
There is definitely something to taking care of your body.
