What’s HOT in Careers for 2013!

Are you in the market for a new job or thinking about going back to school for a new career choice? Well, times have changed and employers are looking for different skill sets in 2013.

Some of the HOTTEST jobs out there right now are:

1. Technology

We are deep in the Age of Technology so you not only need to be skilled in using a computer and the different programs for business management, you must also be able to create worksheets, build websites, and trouble shoot problems. These are the minimum skills required in technology fields. You must be versed in both Windows and Apple programs, social media savvy, and digitally “plugged in” with a smart phone or iPhone, Skype, and instant messaging/chatting.

2. Financial planners/advisors

At minimum, understanding spreadsheets, bookkeeping, accounting principals, and the stock market trends is a must. There is still a high demand for personal advisors for not only corporations, but individual households. On the heels of our recession, people are looking to be more responsible with their money and are seeking expert advise.

3. Public Relations

Along the same lines, businesses are in steep competition right now for continued growth. A person experienced in public relations and being the “face” of a company is much needed. This is an area where communication skills, conflict resolution, marketing, and technology is a must. Having a stellar resume of past projects that were successful is imperative for this field.

4. Nursing

It goes without saying (but I will anyway) that the healthcare field is booming. We will always have sick people and there will always be a demand for those to care for them. The nursing career had skyrocketed over the past 10 years and the demand for nursing continues to be high. This is a very competitive career and dedication, compassion, and continued education is key.

No career is recession proof but the above career still happen to be the hottest trends at this point in 2013.
