My Favorite Face Clearing Masks And Skin Cleaning Process!

A lot of people tell me that I have the “perfect” skin. Trust me, I have been struggling with my skin and skin care ever since I was a teenager. In fact, it is so “not perfect” that I break out into laughter whenever someone mentions my complexion.

But, I do take a lot of time maintaining proper skin cleansing, de-clogging and moisturizing. I would like to share some of my favorite skin care products with you.

The most important thing that I do each day is clean my face morning and evening with a face wash that is appropriate for me. I do occasionally have adult acne and you would think that a wash with benzoyl peroxide would be the best, but it is not. It is very drying and can overdry the skin and make it much worse. I must remove all of my makeup each night so I use an exfoliating face wash that I have used for about 5 years.

It is Clean and Clear Daily Pore cleanser. This is great for me because it contains micro-scrubbers to get the makeup completely off my face.

Next, I wipe over my face with a cleansing pad that contains salicylic acid (which is an acne medication) to remove makeup residue and clean my face of bacteria which causes my acne. I do this every night and most mornings.

I use Clearasil Daily Clear pads for this. You notice that I don’t stay with the same line of skin cleansers. This is from experience. Some washes work better from one line, where a cleaning pad from another works best for you. It is okay to mix and match.

A couple of times per month, I like to unclog my pores with a face mask. I have a couple that I use that vary in price range. The first  one is Bath and Body Works Blackberry face mask.

This one is new to me but I have used it three times now and I love it. Why? It goes on thin and comes off  in “virtual” one piece when peeling off. It is a little messy (can leave your sink needing a cleaning). After the peel is off, my skin feels supple and is glowing.

The next is Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser Mask. This one I love as well. It is not a peel but it dries on your face and is washed off with a cloth. I like to use this one with the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner. It removes the mask residue.

For moisturizing purposes (when I need it…I have oily skin), I use Kiehl’s lycopene moisturizer. I bought this a long time ago and unfortunately, I don’t think they make it anymore.

So that is it. This is how I keep my skin fresh looking and pores as small as possible. Of course, I don’t get compliments about my skin just for the cleaning process, I do love make-up and will be doing a post about that later. But don’t forget to hydrate with water to keep your skin purged of toxins.

If you have a great moisturizer that you use, please leave me recommendations and comments.

My dermatologist recently recommended Cetaphil face wash, which you buy over the counter. I wish I had discovered it when I was a teen.

I use Aveda moisturizer b/c I’m allergic to everything. Natural products work best for me.

I have never tried Cetaphil but being a pharmacist, I have seen it purchased a lot over the years.

I would love to hear your thoughts on Differin, which you have to have a prescription for.

If I find out info on Differin, I will share it with you. I am still in the process of finding the right dermatologist for my skin.
