First Week of Whole 30 {A Few Of My Meals}!

by Kathy Sykes on February 28, 2014 · 3 comments

I have successfully completed the first week of the Whole 30 program and I am extremely excited. It has not been easy and I will tell you why. During the first week, it was difficult for me to stay satisfied with my hunger. I know it was just psychological but I always seemed hungry. Also, I had frequent headaches the first few days. I am sure this was from the withdrawal of sugar and my lack of caffeine (I was a Coke drinker). The last thing that was tough was decided what to prepare for meals everyday. This post is just to show you a few pictures of some of the meals that I ate during my first week.

fruit bowl

Strawberry and banana nut bowl. This was a breakfast, as well as snack

lettuce spring rolls

Shrimp, crab, avocado lettuce wraps for lunch

Shrimp salad

Grilled shrimp salad over baby spinach with nuts. I squeezed lime juice over it for my dressing.

steak and sweet potato

Grilled steak with onions and green bell pepper and a baked sweet potato.

I have started a Pinterest page for my Whole 30 meals and recipes and many of them are not my own but just suggestions from people who have done it in the past. This will help a lot when you have exhausted all of your own possibilities.

I have committed to not stepping on the scale until the end of each week so that I won’t torment myself or get discouraged. But I have lost 4 lbs at this point and my blood pressure has been better than on medication alone. That is a huge accomplishment for me.

Looking forward to week two!

Good for you!! I’ve been dieting some too- it sure isn’t fun but I know it will be worth it!

No it isn’t fun but I am really trying hard to look at it like a detox instead of a diet. Then maybe I can redefine how I would like to eat in the future. It won’t be anything as strict as this though. MODERATION in 2014

Just reading about your weight loss is inspiring me to continue through my first week of the Whole 30. You have some variety in your food. I am going to try the Strawberry Banana nut bowl for sure.

Are or were you exercising during your first week?
